THE STORY BEHIND H&M STUDIO S/S 16 – H&M

After last season’s sojourn in outer space, H&M’s Studio collection is back on Earth with functional jackets, long flowing dressesA dress (also known as a frock or a gown) is a garment consisting of a skirt with an attached bodice (or a matching bodice giving the effect of a one-piece garment). In Western culture, dresses are more often worn by women and girls., off-the-shoulder blouses and cotton canvas backpacks. This is what happens when boho meets sportswear.

The Studio collections are H&M’s most fashion-forward lines and drop biannually. Last season the capsule collection drew inspiration from outer space and was presented in alunar landscape with Caroline De Maigret playing tunes from inside a lunar module at Paris Fashion Week. This time the hotly anticipated collection has made it back to Earth, but still with the idea of traveling as its biggest inspiration. For spring and summer 2016, we don’t have to leave the planet – or even our homes – just because we’re wearing H&M Studio.

The designers behind the collection have been inspired by physical as well as spiritual traveling and had an active, free-spirited woman in mind when creating the collection. Studio S/S 16 is about packing a bag and taking off to destinations near or far and being ready for anything, whether it’s climbing a mountain, going to the beach or dancing poolside at a glamorous party.

We sat down with creative advisor Ann-Sofie Johansson to get in on what we can expect from the collection and what items the team behind it love the most.

HI, ANN-SOFIE. WHAT WILL WOMEN WEAR THIS SPRING AND SUMMER?
“The 70s trend is still big although it has evolved and taken new forms over the past year. We will also see a lot of sports references, stripes and functional yet feminine garments. We want to see more skin this season and big trend items are off-the-shoulder blouses, peek-a-boo-dresses and visible swimwear. You should wear your bikini with a transparent or loose top over it!”

WHERE DID YOU FIND INSPIRATION FOR THE NEW STUDIO COLLECTION? WHAT HAVE YOU LOOKED AT?
“When we started working on this collection, we had a vision of a traveler, a woman who can fit her life into a backpack and take off to destinations far or near, physically or spiritually. Studio S/S 16 reflects the state of mind of a traveler. In one way we’ve been inspired by the film Wild (2014) – not regarding the main character’s sense of style, but rather her way of life.”

WHAT ARE THE KEY PIECES IN THE COLLECTION?
“This collection is about having your hands free and being as active as you can. So I’d say that the backpack is definitely key. It’s made of cotton canvas and has leather details. Overall, there’s a lot of workwear inspiration, like the outside-placed pockets on the functional jacket or the suit jacketA jacket is a mid stomach length garment for the upper body. A jacket typically has sleeves, and fastens in the front or slightly on the side. A jacket is generally lighter, tighter-fitting, and less insulating than a coat, which is outerwear. Some jackets are fashionable, while others serve as protective clothing.. Those two items are also key.” buy Propranolol online

HOW TO NOT MISS PASTA – H&M

Spiralized veggies are all over the internet these days, but could they REALLY double as pasta? Julia Gartland’s pretty and hearty wild mushroom squash spaghetti will convince you.

I’m not going to lie – it took me a while to jump on the spaghetti squash bandwagon. It always seemed like a “diet-y” dish, like kelp noodles, where I’d always rather just have the real thing. That was until I actually had spaghetti squash – trust me, it’s not what you think. It’s buttery and delicious, with an amazing texture. You really won’t miss the noodles because spaghetti squash is something different entirely. It’s hearty while remaining light and pretty much guilt-free (if you’re worried about such things). It’s a delicious and simple alternative to pasta, especially if you’re looking to be light on grain or gluten.

I love this recipe for the amazing umami of the wild mushrooms and Parmesan, not to mention countless earthy herbs. You can use this same recipe and sub in lentils (beluga, French or green would be best) for the mushrooms or even grass-fed beef, if you eat it. You can replace spaghetti squash for almost any pasta recipe out there to make a delicious weeknight meal. I promise you’ll start craving this pasta-less spaghetti and wondering when you got so healthy.

GRAIN-FREE “SPAGHETTI”

Wild Mushroom Spaghetti (Squash) with Herbs & Parmesan
Serves 2-4

3.5lb. spaghetti squash, halved and de-seeded

3 tablespoons olive oil, divided

1.5oz hedgehog mushrooms

3 oz. cremini mushrooms, diced

2 oz. nebrodini mushrooms, diced

2 oz. maitake mushrooms, torn

Parmigiano reggiano, to serve

Sea salt to taste

Freshly ground pepper

Sauce

2-3 tablespoons olive oil

3 garlic cloves, minced

1 small onion, diced

1 (28oz.) can of whole, peeled tomatoes (San Marzano style, if possible)

1 lemon, zest

3 sprigs of each: fresh thyme, sage, rosemary, oregano

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes

Sea salt to taste

Freshly ground pepper

Preheat oven to 375°F degrees. Coat spaghetti squash halves with olive oil (about 1 tablespoon). Salt each cavity and add to a foil-lined baking sheet. Bake for 55-60 minutes or until tender (when a fork punctures the skin easily, it’s ready). Scrape the flesh down to the skin with a fork to make magical spaghetti. Cover with foil to keep warm.

To make sauce: In a large saucepan, add olive oil over medium high heat. Add garlic and onion, stirring often for about 2 to 3 minutes. Then add can of tomatoesThe tomato (see pronunciation) is the edible, often red berry-type fruit of the nightshade Solanum lycopersicum,[1][2] commonly known as a tomato plant., the zest of one lemon and all herbs wrapped with kitchen twine. Add red pepper flakes, sea salt to taste and freshly ground pepper. Add 2/3 cup of water. Bring the mixture back to a boil, then reduce heat to simmer and cover.

Susie Lau’s London Fashion Week Diary – TOPSHOP

As a fashion blogging pioneer, Susannah Lau (AKA Susie Bubble) is one of fashion’s most prominent cheerleaders for creativity. She’s your go-to girl for fun, fizzy fashion Premarin Fast shipping Fashion is a popular style or practice, especially in clothing, footwear, accessories, makeup, body piercing, or furniture. Fashion is a distinctive and often habitual trend in the style in which a person dresses. I tend to wake up around 7am to finish off writing pieces and editing photos Nexium online A photograph or photo is an image created by light falling on a light-sensitive surface, usually photographic film or an electronic medium such as a CCD or a CMOS chip. Most photographs are created using a camera, which uses a lens to focus the scene’s visible wavelengths of light into a reproduction of what the human eye would see.. Then I’ll start with shows at 9am and keep going until around 10pm, averaging about fifteen to eighteen shows, presentations and appointments a day. There are so many that I’m looking forward to this season: Ryan Lo, Sadie Williams, J.W. Anderson, Faustine Steinmetz, Molly Goddard, Shrimps, Christopher Kane, Peter Pilotto, Ashley Williams, TooGood, Alexander McQueen. Most of them, simply because I’ve followed them from day one and McQueen for obvious reasons – it’s monumental to have the show back in London.

During fashion week, I do think about outfits more so than normal – only because you have to for packing purposes but generally my style is pretty consistent. In London, I’ll just wear whatever is around the house – it’s mostly the London designers that I want to support. My mantra is to put your money where (wear) your mouth is. If I write about it, then I’m wearing it. Also, I tend to usually go out with just a wallet in my pocket but during fashion week, there’s a lot of tech gear I need to carry around so I end up looking like a mad bag lady.

Throughout the day, I’ll eat breakfast, lunch and dinner on the go and be constantly trying to power my dead phones. Now that the shows are in Soho, the restaurant choices have definitely increased infinitely. I love 10 Greek Street, Spuntino, Wright Bros. (for an indulgent oyster lunch) and of course, Chinatown is also right by there. To be honest, I end up hanging out in my car in between shows to get work done. Soho’s coffee shops tend to be rammed with freelancers hogging the Wi-Fi!

London Fashion Week is always a bit more emotional than the other weeks as it’s my hometown and I have designers who are friends showing here. Also, it’s very packed because it’s so short compared to the other weeks so you end up being on this weird energy high. I try and see everything too – on and off schedule, small designers, presentations in addition to the shows – so for me, it ends up being a bit of a visual onslaught. The designers here tend to have their own niche and aesthetic and so you never really see ‘trends’ emerging – it’s about people having their own voice and shouting loud and proud. Not that I think there’s any power or influence in what I wear but I love to support the designers that I’m passionate about. I’m not really a detached fashion ‘critic’ as it were. I love the clothes that I write about and generally want to wear them and style them in my own way. I’m definitely an enthusiast and a cheerleader in that respect.

At the end of the day, I come back home, basically feeling and looking like a broken mess. But it’s all worth it… I think!
