WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT LINEISY MONTERO – H&M

Few models can claim that they have helped define fashionFashion is a popular style or practice, especially in clothing, footwear, accessories, makeup, body piercing, or furniture. Fashion is a distinctive and often habitual trend in the style in which a person dresses. It is the prevailing styles in behaviour and the newest creations of textile designers., and even fewer models can say that they did it in their first catwalk season. But Lineisy Montero, from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, is one of those models. Since she made her runway debut as a Prada exclusive in their Fall/Winter 2015 show, Montero has continuously been one of the industry’s most sought-after models.

Her face is one of those instantly recognizable ones: killer cheekbones, a slight tooth gap, the cutest chin dimple and, of course – the super chic afro that paved the way for a long overdue comeback of natural black hair on the catwalk.

Model on the rise Khadijha Red Thunder got her last name from her Native American grandmother, whose farmland tipi was a magical place for her grandchildren.

PAMELA KATZ
New York DJ, model and stylist assistant Pamela spends her days dreaming of Californian beaches and hills.

“I feel like I am in my element when I am in natural places. I love walking barefoot, swimming in the ocean, having my hair all natural…”

Follow Jordan Rebello on Instagram, and you will feel an immediate need to start a family, move to California and buy an RV. Her dreamy feed is made up of perfect vintage pieces, the cutest family pics, and the chicest camping trips you can imagine.

“My daughter always tells me that I need to wear more dresses – she wants me to be a princess! But I have always been a tomboy. I can’t help it.”

CAMP CALI GIRLS: MEET LOUISE – H&M

“I learned to surf when I was 13. I used to watch films of Kelly Slater and be like ‘oh, I want to do that.’ I love how close you are to nature when you surf, how you’re out in the ocean, all by yourself. You forget about everything, you’re just one with nature. But I didn’t live next to the beach, obviously, growing up in Paris. So I decided to pick up a skateboard. Skating is like surfing – only easier. You just grab your board and find a street. But the feeling, the adrenaline, is the same.
I used to feel like the only skate and surf girl in Paris. People would give me funny looks when they saw me skate in the streets, like ‘what are you doing?’ But I guess it is getting bigger there because now when I go back, I always see a bunch of skater girls in the streets. It’s like, wow!
I moved to California five years ago. I love the atmosphere here: people are smiling, it is more relaxed than in Europe. It has a surfy vibe to it!
My perfect summer day starts with a surf session in the morning, then I hang with friends and have a nice lunch, skateboard in the afternoon and then a surf session at sunset. Yeah, the perfect summerSummer is the hottest of the four temperate seasons, falling between spring and autumn. At the summer solstice, the days are longest and the nights are shortest, with day-length decreasing as the season progresses after the solstice. The date of the beginning of summer varies according to climate, tradition and culture, but when it is summer in the Northern Hemisphere, it is winter in the Southern Hemisphere, and vice versa. day starts and ends with surfing.”

Did Topshop Australia grow too fast?

Topshop Topman Australia launched a sweeping eCommerce overhaul just one month prior to collapse.

In April, the business launched a localised platform for Australian shoppers offering expanded productIn marketing, a product is anything that can be offered to a market that might satisfy a want or need. In retailing, products are called merchandise. In manufacturing, products are bought as raw materials and sold as finished goods. Commodities are usually raw materials such as metals and agricultural products, but a commodity can also be anything widely available in the open market. collections, lower pricing, faster delivery and weekly drops.

In an exclusive interview with Ragtrader, eCommerce head Deborah Papazoglu revealed the challenge of aggressive expansion.

“The challenges are that you want to move quicker than sometimes a business can move. That’s a challenge.

“That’s probably the key challenge we have. We have a lot of exciting ideas that we want to use to take this to the next level.

“Unfortunately sometimes you cant move as quick as you’d like to because of other business reasons.

“But that is probably the biggest challenges. And the growth of it. We are excited by how it is trading so far, quite fast growth.”

Papazoglu also revealed the brand had outpaced other international rivals in the market.

“We were one of the first international players to launch stores. Now, out of the main international players, we are the first to have Click and Collect.

“The H&M’s and the Zara’s of the world aren’t there yet. And we are now.”

The hemline of skirts can vary from micro to floor-length and can vary according to cultural conceptions of modesty and aesthetics as well as the wearer’s personal taste, which can be influenced by such factors as fashion and social context. Most skirts are self-standing garments, but some skirt-looking panels may be part of another garment such as leggings, shorts, and swimsuits. and red heeled sandals for summer date nights. You could even team it with a brightly coloured tailored suit for extra style points. Srsly, it’s that versatile.

Exclusive: A Look at Chanel’s Star Turn in Okja, the Surprise Cannes Hit

Okja may be the most controversial film to debut at Cannes this year. Directed by Bong Joon-ho of The Host and Snowpiercer fame, the Korean-American production is being distributed by Netflix, a fact that has led to criticism by some who worry about the streaming giant muscling its way into cinema’s most prestigious festival. Yet by early accounts, the film is a marvel—a humanistic coming-of-age tale with a strong political message—that drew a four-minute standing ovation as the credits rolled, thanks in part to its clever costuming.
The movie stars young actress Ahn Seo-hyun and Okja, the titular CGI “super-pig” she lovingly raises on Korean farmland, until the Mirando Corporation returns to “harvest” its genetically engineered swine. Tilda Swinton, who first collaborated with Bong in 2013’s Snowpiercer, plays Lucy Mirando, a corporate heiress with an image to project, and for one of the film’s pivotal scenes, she conjures a compelling costar—a couture Chanel gown.
“I immediately saw my character in Okja as adoring Chanel,” Swinton says. Before shooting began, her mind drifted back to the house’s Resort 2016 show, held in Seoul and filled with sartorial nods to the hanbok, the country’s traditional dress. “So for the scene where the businesswoman presents the awards for the super pig competition she initiated, I remembered the pink hanbok that caught my eye at the Cruise show,” she adds. “I thought it would be perfect for this powerful businesswoman and her desire to pay tribute to Korea as the winning country at this event.”
When model Ji Hye Park closed Chanel’s Paris-Seoul show in Karl Lagerfeld’s reimagined hanbok, it struck the right chord—floating layers of pink silk and chiffon, the dangling goreum ribbon redone as a tight velvet bow. Custom-made for Swinton, as seen in the images below, the dressA dress (also known as a frock or a gown) is a garment consisting of a skirt with an attached bodice (or a matching bodice giving the effect of a one-piece garment). accomplished a lot in a few strokes. It conveyed her character’s extravagant wealth and worked as an elegant reference to Korean culture that doesn’t read as costume, despite Mirando’s less than noble intentions. Subtler still is the matching twinset worn by Ahn—instead of Swinton’s fine silks, Ahn’s is done in humble cotton and linen, conveying the vast distance between them. It’s a perfectly executed film-fashion moment, courtesy of Swinton and the house of Chanel.

This Is Why You Spend So Much In H&M

Want to feel good about yourself? Head to the H&M changing room mirrors.

Have you ever noticed how sometimes you look totally different in the changing room mirrors of your favourite high street stores (in a good way)?

Known for using ‘magic mirrors’, the giants of the British high street often install fairground styleStyle is a manner of doing or presenting things, especially a fashionable one. mirrors that make us appear slimmer, more tanned and taller – and we obvs LOVE it!

That, along with clever lighting tricks and well, we look pretty good – making us in turn buy all the clothes we try on and look oh-so-good in. So you see, it’s not really your fault when you accidentally spend your rent money on a new wardrobeA wardrobe is a standing closet used for storing clothes. Many people[who?] argue that wardrobes are different in use and style of closets, but they were created by the French to be used as a closet. The earliest wardrobe was a chest, and it was not until some degree of luxury was attained in regal palaces and the castles of powerful nobles that separate accommodation was provided for the apparel of the great. The name of wardrobe was then given to a room in which the wall-space was filled with closets and lockers, the drawer being a comparatively modern invention[citation needed]. From these cupboards and lockers the modern wardrobe, with its hanging spaces, sliding shelves and drawers, evolved slowly.

And while this happens across the high street, H&M is definitely our number one spot for mirror selfies. Look’s Fashion News Assistant Bridie Wilkins is a huge fan –

“H&M. ‘Nuff said. If you haven’t already noticed, the mirrors in H&M are amazing. No matter how crap (can I say that?) I feel, their mirrors always make me feel loads better about myself. I don’t know what it is- the lighting, the length? Who knows? I do know it makes me want to buy everything I try on, though. And they’re both tall and wide enough to see how things really look.”

While Mango’s changing rooms feel like your under a spotlight and Zara’s are just too small, H&M have found the perfect equation to make us look great. Alternate angled full-length mirrors + soft lighting + space to move = £££.

The Baxter Inn does a pop-up with H&M

Feeling a little uninspired now that Don Draper rarely graces the TV screen? Perhaps H&M has the cure. In celebration of classic masculine style, the clothing retailer is hosting Sydney bar The Baxter Inn at its Pitt Street Mall storeA retail store where merchandise is sold, usually a product, usually on a retail basis, and where wares are often kept.
for one night only for an evening of cocktails, menswear and art.

Known for its generous whisky collection and rollicking vibe, the Baxter has come to be regarded as one of the best bars in the country, making regular appearances on The World’s 50 Best Bars list, and winning a substantial fan base. We’re putting our money on seeing some whisky cocktails at this H&M pop-up, while the food will include sliders.

The Baxter’s move into the limelight of fashion is outside the modus operandi of the Swillhouse Group, which, with Shady Pines Saloon, Frankie’s and Restaurant Hubert also to its name, specialises in basement venues with low street profile.

But it’ll be in good, beardy company in this particular outing, with manscaping specialists Men’s Biz on hand with a grooming station and expert advice on all things facial. Musician and producer Manu Crooks will MC the event, and there’ll also be a live art demonstration by tattoo artist and painter Mayonaize.

Time to shine your shoes and slick back that hair for an evening of all things men’s style

The Baxter Inn Pop-up at H&M, Pitt Street Mall, Sydney, NSW. May 24, 7pm-9pm.
