H&M:THE ULTIMATE SUMMER WARDROBE

he tunic is finally back! Copy legendary model Anna Klevhag by opting for an updated and more luxurious style in pure silk, and you’ll be set for both long days at the beach and late night poolside parties. No piece of clothing is more essential in your getaway wardrobe than a sarong. The versatile garment triples as a skirt, a turban and a throw-over for chilly nights. With a print inspired by ancient pottery and etchings of sculptures, this silk and Tencel™-blend garment partners perfectly with a terra-cotta swimsuit.Although the summer heat is approaching, we still have obligations (read: going to work) to fulfill. By now, we’re all familiar with Summer Fridays, and a pair of fluid beige pants with a wide leg and elastic waist is both comfortable and, of course, work-appropriate. Pair with an equally fluid silk shirt to achieve the ultimate sophisticated-meets-casual office attireSecond to the sarong, the caftan is the best swim cover-up there is. But the essential garment is so much more than just a cover-up. It’s airy and comfortable, but elegant and chic at the same time. Wear it over a swimsuit for a sophisticated beach look or layer it over a pair of pants for an eye-catching post-beach look. For all those lazy summer days, a great sundress is the go-to garment we all crave. When you want to spend minimal effort on getting dressed and maximum time under the sun, this flowy dress is the fastest option for waking up and taking on the day with zero time wasted on making sartorial decisions. The little black dress is as timeless as it gets. In contrast to fall, winter and spring, the summery take on the LBD comes in a cool and breathable linen-like material (in this case, the conscious natural fiber rami) but doesn’t lose any of its required features: daring — yet sophisticated — décolletage, voluminous sleeves and flattering draping. For your most glamorous evening plans, a printed slip dress with multiple side slits is the showstopper you need to invest in. Let the dress do the talking and wear it with simple shoes, delicate gold pendants and a pared-back beauty look. When temps rise and humidity makes wearing, well, anything at all feel unbearable, a pair of shorts, sandals and an airy white shirt are the superior solution. With big cuffs, a mandarin collar and made in a breathable linen-like material, the only thing cooler than this look is a dip in the ocean.Forget bright hues and bold colors. This summer, we’re going back to the roots with earthy tones of burnt orange, beige, bleached yellows — and mustard. Depending on how you style it, this elongated tunic can be worn by itself as a chic shirt dress, or tucked into pants for a more dressed-up look.

H&M:MASTERING THE ART OF DENIM LAYERING

Get maximum mileage with minimum environmental impact by updating your wardrobe with sustainably sourced denim styles. These perennial pieces have been mindfully made using materials that require less water, energy and chemicals compared to their conventional counterparts. In the case of denim, which is known to be particularly water and chemical-thirsty, this makes a considerable difference. And by caring for, mending and recycling your garments in a responsible way — prolonging their lifecycle and helping to close the loop — you’ll reduce their ecological footprint even further. Now, as for styling, our best advice is to not hold back. If double denim already feels like a no-brainer, why not go for triple. Make a high impact with spring’s low-impact pieces by opting for a mix of clean-lined shapes in slightly faded shades of blue, creating a modern denim uniform. Reach for a pair of wide-legged jeans with a loose, airy fit and raw-cut edge, and team with double-layered denim jackets for effortless perfection. As they say: all good things come in threes. The cool-and-conscious girl’s take on double denim is achieved through careful coordination. Think suit, but more innovative than your average Canadian tux, and pair an oversized jacket with matching loose-fitting pants in a spring-fresh nuance of white. The fashion-forward wear the versatile outerwear style casually thrown over a buttoned-up bleach-blue jeans jacket, and finish the look with chunky sneakers for a relaxed, street-credible vibe. The knee-length denim Bermudas are a chic and easy-to-wear relative to our favorite cycling shorts, and a perfect DIY that updates your wardrobe for the new season in seconds. For an off-duty take with a nod to the 90s, style the cut-offs with a transitional blue-wash shirt, sleeves rolled up, and a light denim jacket tied around the waist. Accessorize to match the laid-back staples with minimalist silver hoops and spring’s cool-and-comfortable platform sandals.

ASOS:5 CLASSIC BNO PIECES UNDER £25

You know what’s better than a going out-out bargain? One that you can wear over and over again. Naturally we love an up-to-the-minute trend, but there’s nothing quite like snapping up a versatile, classic piece that you can rock on repeat. Here’s five BNO pieces under £25 that are so much more than a one night stand. Cost per wear = low AF.Ah, the Little Black Dress – is there anything it can’t do? It’s sophisticated, looks good on basically everyone and is super-adaptable. The fun part is making it look like a whole new thang every time. You could wear a longline blazer over it, cinch the waist with a belt bag, add lashings of gold jewellery, pair it with some neon accessories… the possibilities are endless. No other piece will go harder in your going-out-out line-up than a pair of barely-there blush heels. Their power is tenfold: they work with everything, upgrade even the most casual of outfits, and they’re not going to go out of style anytime soon. Plus they’re so minimal, no one will even notice when you wear them out every weekend. How can you resist? We love it when one piece can be worn in numerous life sitches. Take this pink skirt. It’s ideal for a night out with a bandeau top and some heels, it works for 9-5 with pumps and a fresh white shirt, and it will even win the weekend with chunky trainers and a simple t-shirt. The only question left is: where can’t you wear it?Back in the early 00s, dressing for your BNO just meant pairing a fancy string top with a pair of jeans. Well, you’ll be happy to hear those days are officially back (and just in time for The Hills reunion). A lacy cami like this one is your one-stop solution to jazzing up your everyday trews for cocktails. Minimal effort, maximum impact.Last but not least, we have the statement earring. Little touches like these beauties – or a layered necklace, a neon add-on, or a so-2019 hair accessory – are an easy and affordable way to update any lovable old pieces you want to resurrect from seasons past. These babies will add a mystical, crystal-ball vibe to your after-dark look. Prediction: you’re going to wear them everywhere, this season and beyond.

ASOS:3 WAYS TO TRY TROPICAL

We’ve been longing for some heat since last summer and, with the temperature slowly creeping up, it’s time to get a head start with one of the hottest (pun intended) trends of the season: tropical print. The options are many, but here are three ways to style it to get you started. Monday morning and all out of inspo? Good thing everyone loves a bit of denim on denim, especially when it’s in the season’s favourite neutral shade. This jacket has a fun colourful print added in for an extra bit of tropical flavour, and – even better – it’s made out of organic cotton. Style it with your favourite tropical-print shirt and some trainers. A bit warmer than expected? Leave the jacket and throw on a pair of block-heeled sandals.Going somewhere? Opt for this palm-print beauty that gives you that post-beach glam glow without actually having to go anywhere. You could go subtle on accessories, cos the dress happens to be a showstopper by itself, but adding different pops of colour is more than encouraged – it is nearly summer after all. The finishing touches? Gold jewellery aplenty. You know what’s better than the hottest trend of the season? If you combine it with another favourite (neon, what else?). Think 80s Miami Vice meets Leo’s Hawaii shirt moment in Romeo + Juliet. And then make it ASOS by rolling up the sleeves and throwing on your fave jeans and a metallic belt. Just like that, you’re good to go.

ASOS:ASOS INSIDERS IN SS19 SNEAKERS

For as long as we can remember (read: since we could tie our own shoelaces), sneakers have been a staple in our footwear collection. Not only do they go with literally everything (jeans, skirts, dresses, you name it), they’re also supremely comfy gives heels the side-eye. And with guest appearances from the likes of Nike, Reebok and Converse in our latest sneaker drop, there are loads to choose from. Keep scrolling to see how ASOS Insiders are wearing theirs.Controversial opinion: mixing animal print, neon and beige is aesthetically on point. What we really want to discuss, though, are ASOS Insider Barbara’s chunky Buffalo sneakers. Taking the dad-trainer silhouette to new heights, she manages to elevate her 90s-inspired get-up to official comeback status – pops would be proud. Top it all off with visor sunglasses and a clear plastic tote.Designed for all intents and purposes (albeit mainly casual ones), Reebok’s Sole Fury sneakers (complete with neon accents) offer a striking, streetwear-inspired take on the brand’s legacy. Follow ASOS Insider Lesley’s lead by teaming them with rolled-up, light-wash jeans and a plain white singlet for your everyday thing. To finish, simply throw a co-ordinating bum bag into the mix – job done.Looking like a sartorial snack, ASOS Insider Ari’s Pink Sea Nike Air Max 720s are making us feel some type of way. Kitted out with Nike’s tallest Air unit yet, which spans the entire length of the outsole, when we say these babies offer all-day comfort, we’re not kidding. Ari pairs hers with raw indigo jeans and a silver puffer jacket that picks out those metallic accents. Chalk it up to experience, but we always come back to Vans when it comes to reshuffling our trainer rotation. Part of the iconic brand’s original Anaheim Factory Pack, ASOS Insider Jana’s pair are a nod to Vans’ early-90s sports styles, and come in a heritage-inspired colourway. And when your creps look this good, why not keep things simple up top? Light-wash jeans and a crisp cotton shirt oughta do it.

ASOS:HOW ASOSERS DO SPRING WORKWEAR

It’s no surprise really, but we’re always clocking strong workwear looks at ASOS HQ. And now the season is shifting, the latest trends are springing (lol) up all over the office. Take a look at our pick of the bunch right now.Social Media Assistant Morgan looks cute as a button in this minty outfit moment. The perfect pairing of formal and fresh, her double-breasted blazer and shorts co-ord, in a spring-ready pastel shade, is getting all our likes right now – the ideal look for the warm-ish days we hope are coming up fast.Social Media Assistant Beth is serving up interesting proportions with this understated ‘fit, ticking off a key tonal palette and neckline this season. Not to mention her ‘I’m gonna be on time for work’ classic watch. Slipping a blazer over the top of this outfit would also work for extra sharpness (read: to keep you from turning into an ice block when the air-con goes back on.)You can’t go wrong with a classic pinstripe suit, but you can bring it bang up to date (and out of banker territory) with a v. welcome flash of 2019 neon. Just check Junior Copywriter Titi and her day-to-day signature mix of sharp tailoring, brights and trainers (which can be swapped for heels for a more formal vibe). Try this one to make an entrance at your next big meeting. Spring commuting = being ready for pretty much anything weather-wise. Which is why a stone-coloured trench is a always a good thing to have in your workwear setup, as our Press Intern Annie Hobson proves. How to keep this classic piece from looking old fashioned? Try layering a sporty piece like a hoodie underneath and teaming with a pair of hi-top Converse. Perfect for offices with relaxed dress codes – or Casual Fri-yay.

ZARA:Our Editors Are Proposing a Temporary Ban on These 7 Trends

The arrival of a new season typically signals a fresh set of trends to try out and a batch of older trends to let go. This spring, our editors are test-driving new pieces that span from ’90s-esque strappy sandals to pastel-hued trench coats all the way to baroque pearl earrings. There’s something for every type of personal style, whether you consider yourself a true blue minimalist or skew toward a more bohemian aesthetic. In other words, the shopping below is akin to a fashion playground. That being said, there also happens to be a list of trends we’re pressing pause on for the moment. A temporary ban, if you will. If you’re curious to find out which seven pieces we won’t be wearing again anytime soon, scroll down to hear from our editors (and find out what they’ll be wearing instead).”With summer approaching (well, eventually), I think it’s time to put away the black leather trench coats that were so popular earlier this year. Instead, I’m investing in a more seasonally appropriate white cotton shacket.” — Allyson Payer”I’m putting a hold on the neon trend. I found that when it first started to bubble, I was too scared to try it, and that hasn’t changed now that spring has finally rolled around. Instead, I’m leaning into big spring blazers as my transitional jacket of choice. I find that they can make any dress or pair of jeans look instantly cooler.” — Lauren Eggersten”I’ve recently noticed a sudden slew of influencers styling knee-high socks with all different types of shoes and shorts or skirts. While they seem to be able to pull it off, I definitely couldn’t, so I’m going to have to do a hard pass on that one. Instead, I’ll just let some of spring shoe trends like strappy, barely there heels, and sporty sandals do the talking in my outfits.” — Nicole Eshaghpour”I’m officially ready to retire my tiny sunglasses. (Mindy Kaling was onto something). I’ll be replacing them with oversize sunnies so I can conceal my under-eye bags in style! I’m particularly loving the shield styles that are everywhere right now.” — Judith Jones”I’m ready to let the super-chunky white ‘dad’ sneaker go. I do love the boldness of an ‘I’m here to be noticed’ shoe, though; I’ll just be getting my kicks (see what I did there?) with Teva-meets-Birkenstock-on-steroids sandals.” — Kat Collings”I’m pressing pause on coin necklaces right now. Instead, I’m adding in pearl jewelry—especially imperfect, baroque pearls that exude character.” — Kristen Nichols

H&M:THE MAGIC OF MADRID WITH MARÍA BERNAD

The first thing María Bernad noticed and loved about Madrid was the light. Being born in the south of Spain, the 24-year-old stylist, designer and fashion influencer came to Madrid two years ago — and fell completely in love.“Madrid has the most amazing light, and the most beautiful buildings. I grew up in the middle of nowhere outside Alicante, and Madrid is a big city — but it’s still so warm and welcoming. And inspiring! It’s literally the place where all the creative people from the rest of Spain — artists, music groups, designers — come together. Madrid is like home to me now.”In her apartment in the Alonso Martínez area, the wardrobe hides vintage finds, designer diamonds and lots of shoes. And maybe some dark memories from the past?“I have never told anyone in fashion this, but when I was a teenager I was emo. Black short hair with a fringe, band t-shirts, lots of chains and black eye makeup. It’s a completely different style from how I dress now, but in some ways it’s still the same. I’m still being myself, playing with clothes and accessories. Some weeks when I’m working a lot I still dress only in black, other weeks I’m more colorful. My style is eclectic.”She’s a true style icon herself, but when it comes to her own muses in fashion, María Bernad looks elsewhere. Her icons are artists and painters, like the American modernist Georgia O’Keeffe, or the interior designer and New York legend Iris Apfel.“I always find more inspiration in art than in social media. You can’t find anything new on Instagram. I’d much rather go to a museum and look at 200-year-old paintings and be inspired by the colors or the composition.”
