Alongside your skirts, tees, sandals and kicks, a pair of sunglasses ranks highly on the list of summer essentials. With no bigger name in the game than Ray-Ban, makers of iconic eyewear since 1937, we thought we’d take a look at how ASOS Scarlett and her BFF Elliott style out the classics.
When you think of the Platonic ideal of sunglasses, it’s hard not to picture the Wayfarer. Called ‘the most recognisable style of sunglasses in history’, the shape has been around since the 50s and again cemented itself as a go-to style for musicians while also making its way into some of the most stylish flicks ever made. The silhouette goes with both beach-ready looks like the ones above and is understated enough to slide easily into your summer wedding look, too. The black frame is the classic OG, of course, but the model is also available in tortoiseshell finishes.
For a more lightweight frame, you can’t go wrong with Ray-Ban’s round, oval or square-shaped options. These were particularly popular with musicians of the 60s and with throwback influence (think tie-dye), making up much of our summer wardrobes, these styles are the cherry on the top of a summery look steeped in nostalgic feels. Take a peep below for more iconic frames and pastel-coloured lenses.
