TOPSHOP:5 Of The Top Hair Trends Of 2020 According To The Experts At Blue Tit London

A new year always brings a whole new host of trends along with it, spanning everything from fashion to beauty and lifestyle. When it comes to hair, and with the climate crisis at the forefront of everyone’s minds right now, who better to turn to than a sustainable hair salon? That’s why we asked the experts at the Blue Tit salon in Topshop’s Oxford Circus store to give us a look ahead at the biggest hair trends coming to you in 2020. From hair treatments based on the moon phases to sustainable hair accessories, keep scrolling to find out what they are…

  1. Scalp analysis and bespoke treatments
Hair treatments are set to become increasingly more holistic and personalised come 2020 says Petah Maian, the Senior Editor at Retail Intelligence, so Blue Tit now offers five bespoke in-salon, fully organic and sustainable Oway treatments. So whether you’re suffering from oily hair or are looking for some full-on relaxation, a personalised microscopic scalp analysis will find the perfect treatment for you to transform your hair with.
  2. Lunar calendar treatments
Into horoscopes? This year we’ll be taking it a step further as detox cleansing treatments that follow the moon phases are going to be all the rage. For a Waxing Moon (from the new moon to the full moon), where the roots will absorb nourishment, it’s the perfect time to treat your hair with moisturising, antioxidant and fortifying ingredients. Then for a Waning Moon (from the full moon to the new moon), the scalp should rest with a soothing and purifying treatment.
  3. Longlasting hair accessories
We’re sure you’re used to seeing pearl hair clips and fancy headbands everywhere by now and 2020 predictions suggest they aren’t going away anytime soon. But Declan Haworth, Blue Tit’s Colour Director, suggests we stop ‘discarding things into landfill’ and start investing in good quality, timeless hair accessories or, better still, look in vintage stores for things like broaches and hat pins to use instead.
  4. Biodynamic hair farming
A biodynamic method consists of the purest and cleanest type of cultivation – meaning it’s free of pesticides, herbicides, insecticides and synthetic fertilisers. Sounds up your street? To be in on this new method, Blue Tit salons exclusively use the world’s first professional haircare, treatment and colour line, Oway, which is cruelty free, made with pure essential oils and contains no toxic ingredients. Win win win.
  5. Zero waste
The strive to achieve zero-waste is taking the beauty industry by storm. If, like many of us, you’re looking for a way to make your next hair cut more sustainable you’ll be pleased to know Blue Tit is 95% plastic free with a goal to up this to 99% by the end of the year. Not to mention, they use 100% biodegradable towels from EcoHeads, recycle over 90% of their waste and use recycled or up-cycled materials wherever possible. It doesn’t get much better than this…
