ZARA, H&M and MANGO quality check

H&M:

I have to say I was really surprised; all pieces were well stitched, I could zip and unzip the dress easily – no problems with the Zipper. All of the buttons were sewed on tight without any thread excess. One thing I didn′t really like was the fabric of a couple of clothes. For example blouses (if they are not cotton) tend to cling to the body like balloon can stick to the wall.

Mango:

First of all I tried some blouses to see if they also cling to the body- and them didn′t. My first plus point was given. I also found a similar black dress without any protruding threads. Second plus point for Mango. Another dress had some, but since it was knitted, and I really had trouble to find thread excess I decided to give Mango the third plus point. Compered to H&M the prices are definitively higher, but some clothes cost exactly the same and look similar too. The quality is also great.

ZARA:

I didn′t had look around a lot, because each piece had looked as if it was not finished. I just took similar pieces into a fitting room and took my pictures. Every item had shortcomings.Even the zipper doesn′t worked well. I′ve read in a Blog that after just one wash a T-Shirt looked like you′ve been wearing it forever. The prices for this low quality are too high.

H&M Shipping and Returns

Here’s the head-scratcher: Shipping isn’t free, nor are returns—they’re both $5.95. And you can’t return online purchase in-store.

These points could be considered unwise because peripheral competitors like ASOS and Zara —whose entire e-commerce experience is technically and visually a pleasure—offer free standard shipping and returns. Even Uniqlo, which launched online shopping last fall, offers free shipping on orders over $100. In addition, Uniqlo and Zara both allow in-store returns on online purchases.

A Review Of H&M Online

We’re sure you’ve heard by now that Swedish fast-fashion behemoth H&M finally launched its long-awaited e-commerce site yesterday following what felt like an endless stream of start-and-stop rumors.

Naturally, since online shopping is an area in which we’re proudly adept, we immediately took to HM.com to see whether we’ll be bookmarking the site—or whether we’ll stick to shopping in the store’s several brick-and-mortar locations.

Read on for our general assessment!

Ease of use:

Overall, the site’s not difficult to navigate but it’s not terribly sleek. For real-deal shoppers, it probably won’t be a problem, but if you’re looking for a simple, beautiful interface, this isn’t it.

The merch:

The women’s selection is fairly limited and appears to be mostly basics, with a few trendy items thrown in the mix. We assume the site wants to compete with Zara—which is killing it in every way, shape, and form when it comes to e-commerce—so it’s surprising that the “better” stuff isn’t available online. H&M will sell its buzzy collaboration with cool-girl French designer Isabel Marant online in November, so perhaps the Trend line will follow? We’re hoping it does!.

KATY PERRY STARS IN H&M’S HOLIDAY CAMPAIGN

H&M announced Thursday that Katy Perry will be the face of its 2015 holiday campaign, replacing Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett who fronted the seasonal advertisements last year.
The full campaign has not been released yet, but we do have one image and introductory video from the singer to tide us over, the latter featuring Perry in a sharp tuxedo topped with a bright red bow and red nail polish. But if the singer’s penchant for wacky costumes is any indication, the holiday campaign should see her decked out in plenty of red and green garb — and maybe even makeup from H&M’s soon-to-be-released beauty line?
Stay tuned for more.

H&M Founder

Erling Persson was the founder of H&M (Hennes&Mauritz). He got the idea following a post-WWII trip to the United States as he was very impressed by efficient, high-volume stores.
The company was in 1947 by Erling Persson, though at the time it only sold women’s clothing and was called Hennes, Swedish for “hers.” In 1968, Persson acquired the premises and inventory of a Stockholm hunting equipment store named Mauritz Widforss. In 1982, Erling Persson’s son, Stefan Persson took over the position as the Managing Director, and today he is the Chairman of the Board. The Persson family owns about 33% of the company and has a 69% voting right.
