MISSGUIDED:how to dress when you’ve got a thing to go to

2019 has barely begun but already the invites are flooding in. Being a sleepy girl with a busy life is hard amirite? You’re already stressing about what to wear where, and mentally combing the possible guest lists in your head to see if you can afford to outfit-repeat (the curse of tagged photos says absolutely not). In desperate need of some inspiration? Whatever the event, we’ve got you. Here’s how to nail occasionwear:
The Spring Wedding
Your heart is saying warm weather, flowers in bloom, birds singing as you sip champagne on the terrace in the sunshine. Unfortunately, your head is saying it could genuinely still snow in April. A jumpsuit in pastel shades is the perfect nod to the spring, whilst protecting you from flashing your knickers when the howling gales arrive during the wedding photos. Your outerwear is just as important as your actual outfit during the spring, so throw on a fur coat over your jumpsuit to look like the ultimate It girl, or team with a formal trench to ooze class.
The Summer Wedding
Finally, the sunshine has arrived (we hope) and wedding season is officially here. Every one of your besties is getting married within weeks of each other, and your diary is full. With so many invites and limited dolla, co-ords and separates are a great way to get more mileage out of your wardrobe. Mix and match your skirt or culottes with different tops for each event: Team with a silky cami, lace crop, or a body in a matching colour to give the impression of a dress or jumpsuit. Nobody will ever know it’s not a whole new outfit!
The Races
You and your girls have got tickets to ladies day, and you are out to nab the best-dressed prize. Most racecourses have a dress code, so maybe leave the mini skirt and sequins for your night out afterwards. The races is the perfect event to wear something standout and show-stopping. P.s. We feel like we should advise you to wear sensible shoes to avoid sinking into the grass after a few too many proseccos, but we can’t (how could you finish off the perfect outfit with anything but the perfect heel?).
The Prom
There is no night like prom night, and you are ready to say goodbye to school in style. This is your chance to take your glam girl image up a notch, and go for jaw-dropping elegance. A floor-sweeping maxi is always a safe bet, but it doesn’t have to be boring: Add a little sass with a plunging neckline or backless design. Don’t forget, prom dresses don’t have to be long. Dare to bare your pins, and shake it up a bit with a short prom dress. Something heavily embellished will turn the heads of everybody in the room.
The Family Party
It’s your grandparents’ wedding anniversary or your dad’s hitting the big 5-0. Your huge, extended family is descending on your home, and you’re already dreading Auntie Sandra’s interrogation about what your future plans are. You need an outfit that screams “I’ve 100% got my life together”, and tailoring is perfect for this illusion. Take the look from office attire to party-appropriate by trading your cigarette trousers for tailored shorts, or swapping your black blazer for bright colours or patterns. Make sure you finish off with some barely theres, or some cute mules if flats are more your thang.

MISSGUIDED:how to style velvet and not look like a curtain

The weather is cold, and we need fashionFashion is a popular style or practice, especially in clothing, footwear, accessories, makeup, body piercing, or furniture. Fashion is a distinctive and often habitual trend in the style in which a person dresses. It is the prevailing styles in behaviour and the newest creations of textile designers. that’s warm AND stylish. It’s time to nail it in all things velvet. That’s right, the trend we were in love with last year is officially making its grand return. 2019 is taking the trend to a whole new level, adding edgy 90’s inspo to classic autumnal hues like forest green, burgundy and mustard yellows. And we’ve got it all wrapped up. If you haven’t already invested, don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. Here’s our guide to all things velvet and how to styleStyle is a manner of doing or presenting things, especially a fashionable one. it without looking like your Gran’s curtains…
The Velvet Blazer
It’s time to nail it as a layer player this season, with the classic blazerA blazer is a type of jacket resembling a suit jacket, but cut more casually. A blazer is generally distinguished from a sportcoat as a more formal garment and tailored from solid color fabrics. Blazers often have naval-style metal buttons to reflect their origins as jackets worn by boating club members.. We are completely vibin’ off dark winter colours with the 90’s style twist. Team this with a pair of trousers and classic sneaks for a truly casual boss babe look, easily transformed to an edgy ‘out-out’ outfit with heeled boots and a clutch.
The Velvet Trousers
It’s time to go bold girls. Velvet trousers definitely give that party feel that actually looks like you’re ready to get back out there after all your festive partying. Whether you’re heading down to the pub for a casual sesh with the girls or glammin’ up for a big night out, you can make trousers perfect for any occasion.
The Velvet T-Shirt
Every babe needs a classic velvet tee in their winter ‘drobes. It’s the perfect go-to piece that instantly transforms your look. Inspire the casual slay with jeans and flats, or go all out party with a pair of vinyl trousers or a faux leather skirt. Enough said.
The Velvet Boots
Don’t get us wrong, we’re not over the heartache of packing away our sequin dresses and Christmas jumpers yet (although packing away the wrapping paper and sellotape until next year is a weight off the shoulders, amirite?) But if 2019 is all about jaw to the floor velvet boots, then we’ll get over it!
The Velvet Skirt
You didn’t think you could go through 2019 without a velvet skirt, did you? Oh hun, of course not! Like we said, velvet has made a HUGE return and it’s going to be everywhere in every colour. Can I get a hallelujah?!

MISSGUIDED:knitwear 2.0

MISSGUIDED:the 5 coats you need for aw18

Not sure if you’ve noticed, but it’s f*cking freezing outside, and it’s only going to keep getting colder… Soz. Don’t despair though, colder weather means it’s officially time to invest in your new season outerwear. Let’s face it, we live in Britain, so you’re going to be wearing it pretty much 24/7. We’ve rounded up the 5 coatsA coat is a garment worn by both men and women,[1] for warmth or fashion. Coats typically have long sleeves and are open down the front, closing by means of buttons, zippers, hook-and-loop fasteners, toggles, a belt, or a combination of some of these. Other possible features include collars, shoulder straps and hoods. and jacketA jacket is a mid stomach length garment for the upper body. A jacket typically has sleeves, and fastens in the front or slightly on the side. A jacket is generally lighter, tighter-fitting, and less insulating than a coat, which is outerwear. Some jackets are fashionable, while others serve as protective clothing. you need to invest in to keep you feeling warm and looking hot. You’re welcome, babe.
The Teddy Jacket
You guys are going crazy for the teddy coat, and it’s clear to see why. This borg jacket is the absolute perfect autumn-winter coverup for any outfit. Wear with mom jeansJeans are trousers typically made from denim or dungaree cloth. Often the term “jeans” refers to a particular style of pants, called “blue jeans,” which were invented by Jacob Davis in 1871[1] and patented by Davis and Levi Strauss on May 20, 1873. Originally designed for cowboys and miners, jeans became popular in the 1950s among teenagers, especially members of the greaser subculture., a crop top and trainers for laid-back, student-style cool. Or, wear over a bodycon mini for an alternative night-out style.
The Aviator
It’s definitely leather weather outside, and an aviator gives you ultimate cosiness AND style. This is an essential addition to your out-out ‘drobe, because this jacket looks amazing over a little dress or skirt. Faux fur and faux leather combined is always going to be a winner. Perf.
The Puffer Jacket
If you want something that’s going to keep you warm all winter-long, then a padded jacket is what you need. Whether you opt for a subtle black, quilted jacket, or a bright fluorescent bubble jacket, there’s a style of puffer for everybody. The outside equivalent of your duvet. Winning.
The Faux Fur
Public service announcement: If you don’t have a faux fur coat, you’re not doing winter styling right. This style seriously ups the glam on any outfit, and is an essential for those nights out this season. You can even wear a faux fur jacket over a formal dress for big occasions.
The Formal Coat
Need to look more smart than casual this season? Make sure you have a formal coat, which can take you from job interview to hot date. Patterned or plain, colourful or black, there are loads of options so you can choose the perfect smart jacket for you.

MISSGUIDED:office christmas party looks for the cool girl

It’s officially party season, which means your work ChristmasChristmas or Christmas Day (Old English: Crīstesm?sse, meaning “Christ’s Mass”) is an annual festival commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ,[7][8] observed most commonly on December 25[4][9][10] as a religious and cultural celebration among billions of people around the world. party is just around the corner. Not sure what to do or what to wear? Rule 101: don’t shag your boss. Second, find a fire outfit to make sure you’re more lit than a Christmas tree. We’ve rounded up this quick guide to save you from those “I have nothing to wear” for the office Christmas party mini breakdowns.
Office to bar
Let’s face it, just because we’re not Bey doesn’t mean we can’t pull off a fire mini dressA dress (also known as a frock or a gown) is a garment consisting of a skirt with an attached bodice (or a matching bodice giving the effect of a one-piece garment).. When your office Christmas party is all about the drinks, get yourself a figure-hugging dress if you want to show off your curves. After all, this is your chance before all the Christmas food and binge-eating commences over the Christmas period. Opt for a Bardot style to keep things classic or choose a blazer dress to add an extra edge without over-revealing. These sort of dresses are a sure fire way to suit wherever the night takes you: Consider them good dresses to make bad stories in.
Desk drinking before heading to town? Step away from the emails…Anything you send now will be like a drunk text but 100% worse. You can avoid a f*ckboy… Colleagues, not so much.
The free bar
If you have one of those work Christmas dos where it’s a free bar and you just know you’re going to end up a little (or a lot) worse for wear, then this is the outfit for you. Stay clear of playsuits and jumpsuitJumpsuit originally referred to the functional one-piece garments used by parachuters/skydivers, but has come to be used as a common term for any one-piece garment with sleeves and legs.
s that will only end up testing your patience when you’ve officially broken the seal and, let’s be honest, there’s nothing worse than having to completely strip off every time you need a wee. Plus, there’s only so many times you can ask ‘can you undo my zip for me’ to a random gal waiting in the queue. Co-ords keep things fresh when everyone’s turning up to the party in dresses.
And if you’re one of the lucky ones with a free bar, that guy from accounts that you think is weird, who suddenly looks cute 27 bottles of prosecco in, is not the one hun – run away.
Black tie event
Got a black tie event? Congrats, babe, someone’s doing well! Don’t dig out your old prom dress or ball gown. You want to look like an absolute boss babe whilst still looking like you’re ready to down shots at the bar with your co-workers. Try the ultimate trend for the party season: It’s all about soft liquid metallics and lashing of sequins. Maxi and midi dresses are often a little more restrictive than a playsuit or mini dress, so don’t feel like you need to keep your hemlines below your knees just because it’s a posh do.
But remember, just because your boss is dancing on the table, doesn’t mean you should! Another rule 101, stick to the actual ground when you want to have a bit of dance off – especially at a black-tie event. You can thank us later.
The plus one
Your boyfriend has invited you to his work’s do. You need to look seriously hot whilst also looking respectable enough to gain some good reputation with his co-workers and bosses. This is the time to add-to-bag a jumpsuit. They give you shape, length and also a bit of integrity in case you end up having a few too many. Vertical striped styles add some height even if you’re perfectly petite. Clash your textures with a faux fur jacket to add more glitz and you’re good to go. It’s really that simple.
…and one word of warning. If you think karaoke is a genius idea when you’re absolutely smashed: think again, babe. Remember the scene in Bridget Jones when she’s wearing a tinsel crown, a cigarette in her hand and she’s in full-on singing mode, then suddenly Hugh Grant walks in? Don’t be that person. There will be no Hugh Grant casually passing by – only your boss. No one wants the office walk of shame when Monday rolls around.

Eat, drink and be Missguided. You’re welcome, babe.

MISSGUIDED:make your party looks party harder

The weather is RUBBISH, and we are feeling a little bit deflated. The only remedy for the December blues is to fill up your diary and keep yourself busy ’til ChristmasChristmas or Christmas Day (Old English: Crīstesm?sse, meaning “Christ’s Mass”) is an annual festival commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ,[7][8] observed most commonly on December 25[4][9][10] as a religious and cultural celebration among billions of people around the world., right? To help you out, and give you some major inspo, we’ve rounded up our #babesofmissguided to give you all the daytime party #outfitgoals:
Co-Ord
A co-ord is the perfect addition to your wardrobeA wardrobe is a standing closet used for storing clothes. Many people[who?] argue that wardrobes are different in use and style of closets, but they were created by the French to be used as a closet. The earliest wardrobe was a chest, and it was not until some degree of luxury was attained in regal palaces and the castles of powerful nobles that separate accommodation was provided for the apparel of the great. The name of wardrobe was then given to a room in which the wall-space was filled with closets and lockers, the drawer being a comparatively modern invention[citation needed]. From these cupboards and lockers the modern wardrobe, with its hanging spaces, sliding shelves and drawers, evolved slowly. – Wear the pieces together for a statement look, or separately for more cost-per-wear. Wear a skirt, oversized jacket and crop top for autumn, then upgrade your skirt for matching trousers when the temperature drops.
Underwear as Outerwear
Underwear as outerwear is a trend that’s going nowhere in AW18. A lace bralet with shorts or a skirtA skirt is a tube- or cone-shaped garment that hangs from the waist or hips and covers all or part of the legs. The hemline of skirts can vary from micro to floor-length and can vary according to cultural conceptions of modesty and aesthetics as well as the wearer’s personal taste, which can be influenced by such factors as fashion and social context. Most skirts are self-standing garments, but some skirt-looking panels may be part of another garment such as leggings, shorts, and swimsuits. is a perfect nighttime look. But, layering a silk shirt on top gives ultimate sophisticated vibes, to slay in the day.
Shirt Dress
A shirt dress is the ultimate smart-casual look – So it’s perfect for a daytime party outfit. Wear oversized, with chunky boots for cool-girl vibes. Layer this with a casual black jacket and some oversized hoop earrings – Transitional season, sorted.
Midi Dress
A midi dress can be dressed up for the ultimate night-time event. But, a long-sleeved, knitted dress can bridge the gap between occasion and daytime dressing – Keeping you warm whilst still looking dressy. Wear with simple jewellery and perspex heels.
Jumpsuit
Jumpsuits are for every season and every occasion, so they’re the perfect look for a daytime party. They’re the instant outfit your wardrobe needs, so go plain or patterned and wear with barely-there heels and accessorise with simple jewellery.
