how to dress for an interview–missguided

You’ve spent what feels like hours updating your CV, trawling across the job sites and you’ve made sure there were no school girl errors when you submitted your application. And now you’ve heard back. Congrats babe, you’ve landed yourself an interview.

The countdown is on to not only prep what you need to know about the company but also how to dressA dress (also known as a frock or a gown) is a garment consisting of a skirt with an attached bodice (or a matching bodice giving the effect of a one-piece garment).
for an interview. And trust us, it can be harder than it seems. We’ve rounded up this interview guide on what you need to wear, where.

Best suited for:
Corporate, Managerial and PGCE interviews

The pressure kicks in when you’re notified that it’s a formal interview. This traditional way can sometimes throw you off course if you prepare at the last minute. No babe wants to be rooting for their heels the morning of the big day.

Don’t worry though, formal can still mean fashionFashion is a popular style or practice, especially in clothing, footwear, accessories, makeup, body piercing, or furniture. Fashion is a distinctive and often habitual trend in the style in which a person dresses. It is the prevailing styles in behaviour and the newest creations of textile designers.. Look for a smart co-ord with a classic blouse underneath to give off girl boss vibes. Cape blazers can add an interesting edge to your look. For footwear, look for smart court shoes or ankle boots with the hem of your trousers tucked in. Everything you’re wearing needs to give a nod to a business attire dress code – that means limited jewellery and suitable necklines, no plunge cuts babes.

The ‘Business Casual’ Interview:
Best suited for:
Usually Fashion, DesignDesign is the creation of a plan or convention for the construction of an object or a system (as in architectural blueprints, engineering drawings, business processes, circuit diagrams and sewing patterns).Design has different connotations in different fields (see design disciplines below). In some cases the direct construction of an object (as in pottery, engineering, management, cowboy coding and graphic design) is also considered to be design.
, PR, Advertising

Looking for a career in fashion, design, music or PR? You’re heading into some of the most competitive industries out there which means you need to stand out from the crowd. A fancy CV designed on Adobe InDesign can only get you so far. Chances are, creative industries usually ask you to dress business casual, allowing you to not be as restrictive as a formal interview. They also do this to test you on what you’ll actually end up wearing.

The rule of thumb for this dress code is aim to have one casual piece of clothing and the rest smart. Think: Suit with a subtly printed t-shirt or an alternative that injects some personality. Definitely still steer clear of denim for a business casual interview, even if you know people wear jeans in the office. Opt for slim fitting black trousers instead.

The ‘Smart Casual’ Interview
Best suited for:
Interviews that specifically state this dress code – otherwise aim for the top two.

A step down from a business casual dress code is smart casual. Even more difficult to interpret, but pretty easy to nail.

This is usually a slightly smarter version of what you’d normally wear. For this outfit, aim to have one smart piece of clothing to set the foundation. This could be a lapel blazer or cigarette trousers. The rule of thumb is that you can wear smart jeans, so probably best to stick to dark denim. Only wear trainers if you’ve done loads of research into the company (or know somebody who works there) and you’re absolutely sure it’s that kind of office culture. Carry a small tote bag for some smart arm candy too. You have plenty of room to showcase your personality but make sure the one smart clothing piece you choose illustrates some boss vibes.

let’s take a break- the guide to last minute beach holidays in 2018–Missguided

At the stage where you can’t face going on Instagram cause of all your mates’ holiday pictures? Then it’s about time you booked yourself a break babe. Here are our top destinations for last minute holidays:

Ibiza, Spain
https://www.instagram.com/p/BkcEeN9DvMj/?hl=en

If you want beach with a massive helping of party, then this classic holiday is for you.

Cost
While the flights might be pretty cheap, this is not a purse-friendly destination – A bottle of water alone can set you back €10 in some of the clubs.

Where to stay?
Playa d’en Bossa, Ibiza town and San Antonio are the three main nightlife hubs on the island. Paradiso is one of our fave hotels, but there are loads of other options along the beaches and inland.

What to do?
Need you even ask? Ibiza comes to life when the sun goes down, and it truly is a clubbing experience like no other. If you’re going to Ibiza, you’re going to Amnesia, Pacha, Space, or Ushuaia. Maybe all four if you’re dedicated enough! If your hangover isn’t too bad, and you’re looking for something other than the beach to fill your daytime hours, then why not head to a pool party at Nikki Beach. Can anything beat cocktails by the water? We don’t think so.

Swimwear styleStyle is a manner of doing or presenting things, especially a fashionable one.
Corfu, Greece
With over 3000 to choose from, it was hard picking our favourite Greek island. Corfu has just tipped it thanks to its combination of natural beautyBeauty is a characteristic of an animal, idea, object, person or place that provides a perceptual experience of pleasure or satisfaction. Beauty is studied as part of aesthetics, culture, social psychology, philosophy and sociology. and great nightlife.

Cost
This is a great holidayA holiday is a day set aside by custom or by law on which normal activities, especially business or work, are suspended or reduced. Generally, holidays are intended to allow individuals to celebrate or commemorate an event or tradition of cultural or religious significance. Holidays may be designated by governments, religious institutions, or other groups or organizations. The degree to which normal activities are reduced by a holiday may depend on local laws, customs, the type of job being held or even personal choices. to do on a budget. Flights are reasonable, accommodation plentiful, and food and drink, once you’re there, is super cheap!

Where to stay?
Wanting an all-night party? Stay in Kavos for an 18-30 experience that will have you dancing ‘til dawn. If you’re looking for something a little different, why not head to The Pink Palace hotel in Agios Gordios – A bright pink, and hugely instagrammable hotel right on the beach.

What to do?
There’s a nightlife style for everyone on this tiny island, and you can take your pick from a quiet cocktail on the beach to an all-night rave affair. Also, Greek food is AMAZING so you can eat your body weight in moussaka in the hundreds of tavernas dotted around. There are loads of pretty old towns in Corfu, and strolling around these in the daytime is a lovely way to spend a few hours. Or, if you want a more action-packed day, there’s not one, but five waterparks around the island to choose from!

Style
Dubrovnik, Croatia
Often dubbed the jewel of the Adriatic, this is the city for you if you want sparkling blue seas and an awe-inspiring old town.

Cost
This isn’t going to be the most budget-friendly trip. As it’s a little further afield, flights to Croatia aren’t the cheapest, so budget around £200 in high season, but the cost of living (such as food and drink) once you’re there is very reasonable.

Where to stay
Accommodation can be tricky to find and pricey in Dubrovnik, but there are some great AirBnbs for a fraction of the cost of a traditional hotel. Make sure you sort this out in advance though, as they get booked up very quickly! Stay over on the Lapad Peninsula if you’re a traveller on a budget – It’s a quick bus ride away from the Old Town.

What to do?
If you’re a Game of Thrones fan then your first stop has to be the Old Town. From the show, you’ll recognise the huge outer walls, fortifications, and narrow streets from King’s Landing. From the city, you can do some brilliant day trips. Hop on a boat and head to the Island of Lokrum, where you can wander around the French Fort and sunbathe on the banks of the lake. Go further afield, and take a day trip to Montenegro or Bosnia-Herzegovina, to take in the interesting history and culture of a totally different country.

Style
Dubai, United Arab Emirates
A futuristic city surrounded by sprawling desert, Dubai is a unique experience that has to be seen to be believed.

Cost
Obviously, compared to flights in Europe, getting there will seem expensive, but you can get some really good deals if you book in advance. Food and drink in Dubai can be very steep, especially alcohol in the big hotels. Look out for ladies’ day/night deals and brunch parties to get better value for money.

Where to stay?
Bear in mind that if you are going in British summertime, then Dubai is going to be seriously HOT. You’re going to want the beach within throwing distance, or at least a nice big pool to cool off in. There are heaps of hotels around the beach geared towards tourists, so you shouldn’t find it too difficult to find somewhere – The Hilton is always a popular choice.

What to do?
Dubai has some of the most spectacular architecture in the world, and you wouldn’t experience the city fully without visiting the jaw-dropping Burj Khalifa – The tallest building in the world. In terms of parties, Dubai is arguably unrivalled. Celeb hot-spot Zero Gravity does amazing pool parties, with ladies’ day events offering free entrance to ladies all day long. Another exciting event is the Secret Parties. If you’re lucky enough to discover a key or get your name on the guest list, you could be attending a seriously exclusive party – The only catch is, it changes venue every night, so you’ll never be able to find it again!

Swimwear style
Bali, Indonesia
Bali must be one of the closest places to paradise on earth. For such a small island, Bali really packs a punch – With long white beaches, jungles, volcanoes, rice paddies and more.

Cost
Yeah, getting there might cost a few pounds, but once you’re there Bali is seriously cheap. Beautiful hotel rooms can be snapped up for the price of a hostel in Europe, and a three-course meal for two would buy you a burger in your local Wetherspoon’s.

Where to stay?
Stay in Seminyak for stylish beach bars and classy boutiques, or head to Ubud for a more ‘Eat, Pray, Love’ affair. There are some absolutely stunning hotels, but if you’re on a budget there are loads of hostels to choose from.

What to do?
If you are a fan of history, then there are literally hundreds of temples to explore in Bali (some estimates claim there are actually over 1000 on this tiny island). A fun way of seeing more of the island, and heading out into the countryside, is on a bike tour. You’ll cycle through some beautiful little villages, rice paddies, and even the jungle. If you’re more of a water baby, then the beaches in Bali are some of the best on earth. Cool off and head into the water, where you can do a scuba diving or snorkelling trip to see the incredible marine wildlife.

how to dress when you’ve got a thing to go to…–Missguided

2018 is flying by quicker than you can say “omg, we’re having a heatwave”, and our diaries are jam-packed. Being a sleepy girl with a busy life is hard, amirite? You’re already stressing about what to wear where, and mentally combing the possible guest lists in your head to see if you can afford to outfit-repeat (the curse of tagged photos says absolutely not). In desperate need of some inspiration? Whatever the event, we’ve got you.

The Rainy Wedding
Your heart is saying warm weather, flowers in bloom, birds singing as you sip champagne on the terrace in the sunshine. Unfortunately, the weather report suggests monsoon type rain and electrical storms. A jumpsuit in pastelA pastel is an art medium in the form of a stick, consisting of pure powdered pigment and a binder. The pigments used in pastels are the same as those used to produce all colored art media, including oil paints; the binder is of a neutral hue and low saturation. The color effect of pastels is closer to the natural dry pigments than that of any other process. shades is the perfect nod to the summer, whilst protecting you from flashing your knickers when the howling gales arrive during the weddingA wedding is a ceremony where two people or a couple are united in marriage. Wedding traditions and customs vary greatly between cultures, ethnic groups, religions, countries, and social classes. photos. Your outerwear is just as important as your actual outfit during the British summertime, so throw on a cape blazer over your jumpsuit to look like the ultimate It girl, or team with a formal trench to ooze class.

The Sunny Wedding
FINALLY, the sunshine has arrived (we hope) and summer wedding season is officially here. Every one of your besties is getting married within weeks of each other, and your diary is full. With so many invites and limited dolla, co-ords and separates are a great way to get more mileage out of your wardrobe. Mix and match your skirt or culottes with different tops for each event: Team with a silky cami, lace crop, or a body in a matching colour to give the impression of a dress or jumpsuit. Nobody will ever know it’s not a whole new outfit!

The Evening Guest
So you’ve been invited to a wedding, but only the evening do – Charming! Take it as a blessing babe, you don’t have to sit through the boring part, and you can just turn up, look hot, and get your drink on. The strict wedding guest attire rules are much more relaxed in the evening, and you can have a bit more fun with your look. It’s probably still advisable to steer clear of white though! Opt for something sexy and elegant, like a maxi or midi dressA dress (also known as a frock or a gown) is a garment consisting of a skirt with an attached bodice (or a matching bodice giving the effect of a one-piece garment).. Accessorise with a glass of wine and you’re sorted.

The Races
You and your girls have got tickets to ladies day, and you are out to nab the best-dressed prize. Most racecourses have a dress code, so maybe leave the mini skirt and sequins for your night out afterwards. The races are the perfect event to wear something standout and show-stopping. P.s. We feel like we should advise you to wear sensible shoes to avoid sinking into the grass after a few too many proseccos, but we can’t (how could you finish off the perfect outfit with anything but the perfect heel?).

The Prom
There is no night like prom night, and you are ready to say goodbye to school in style. This is your chance to take your glam girl image up a notch, and go for jaw-dropping elegance. A floor-sweeping maxi is always a safe bet, but it doesn’t have to be boring: Add a little sass with a plunging neckline or backless design. Don’t forget, prom dresses don’t have to be long. Dare to bare your pins, and shake it up a bit with a short prom dress. Something heavily embellished or lacy will turn the heads of everybody in the room.

The Graduation
You’ve done it! Every all-nighter in the library, hungover 9am lecture, and last minute dash to get your coursework in on time was worth it, and you’re finally graduating university. You need an outfit that’s going to look gorgeous under your gown, but then stand out on its own when day turns to night and you’re out celebrating. Neutral coloured fitted midi dresses are always a safe bet, but why not step out of your comfort zone and stand out from the crowd with a floral jumpsuit. Perf.

the holiday lookbook with @ninacanteven–Missguided

We caught up with mega babe and social media influencer @ninacanteven on how she styles this seasons holiday wardrobe. Whether you’re going on the holiday of a lifetime or just having a chilled one with friends, check out her lookbook of summer style below.

Mesh sh*t up this summer like @ninacanteven. This bandage two piece is the perfect addition to your holiday wardrobeA wardrobe is a standing closet used for storing clothes. The earliest wardrobe was a chest, and it was not until some degree of luxury was attained in regal palaces and the castles of powerful nobles that separate accommodation was provided for the apparel of the great. The name of wardrobe was then given to a room in which the wall-space was filled with closets and lockers, the drawer being a comparatively modern invention. From these cupboards and lockers the modern wardrobe, with its hanging spaces, sliding shelves and drawers, evolved slowly.
, a must-have piece to bring a bit of glam to the beach and of course the gram. We can’t even with this look.

Forward to the Islands in this co-ord…This is the perfect day to night holiday outfitClothing can be made of textiles, animal skin, or other thin sheets of materials put together. The wearing of clothing is mostly restricted to human beings and is a feature of nearly all human societies. The amount and type of clothing worn depend on body type, social, and geographic considerations. Some clothing can be gender-specific.. Wear with big shades and flats for daytime adventures, add a bum bag and strappy heels for an outfit hotter than your holiday destination for the night.

When your ex walks past and you try and act casual…Be like Nina this summerSummer is the hottest of the four temperate seasons, falling between spring and autumn. At the summer solstice, the days are longest and the nights are shortest, with day-length decreasing as the season progresses after the solstice. The date of the beginning of summer varies according to climate, tradition and culture, but when it is summer in the Northern Hemisphere, it is winter in the Southern Hemisphere, and vice versa. and opt for all-out glam. Re-think the daytime cover up and opt instead for metallic flares, you’ll look like a walking Kira Kira filter but who doesn’t want that on holiday?! Heading to a beach club? Then this is THE look you need.

Do daytime casual right like @ninacanteven in a crotched trimmed bikini, one shoulder details help to make this look effortlessly glam- just add beachy waves and minimal gold accessories and you’re ready to go…Don’t forget the SPF huns!

Make a statement on the sands this summer in a cut-out swimsuit- granted it might make your tan lines a bit mental, but who cares when you look this hot?

The string bikini is an oldie but a goodie and a sure fire way to look HOT and loved by the likes of Kim K, and if anybody knows how to nail holiday snaps for the gram it’s Kimmy K. Wet slicked back hair is the perfect, no-fuss daytime look to match with this look, just add some denim short, shorts and you are done, hun!

graduating? cool we’ve got an outfit for that!–Missguided

Congrats. You’ve made it through years of stress overload. If you’re now having a bit of a graduation outfit panic, we’ve got you. From taking the stage and receiving your honours to sipping champagne when you’re ‘out-out’ in the evening, these dresses won’t make you regret your outfitClothing can be made of textiles, animal skin, or other thin sheets of materials put together. The wearing of clothing is mostly restricted to human beings and is a feature of nearly all human societies. The amount and type of clothing worn depend on body type, social, and geographic considerations. Some clothing can be gender-specific. choice years down the line. It’s officially time to get a job dressA dress (also known as a frock or a gown) is a garment consisting of a skirt with an attached bodice (or a matching bodice giving the effect of a one-piece garment)..

Play it safe
Consider the LBD a fail-safe option. Even though your outfit will be the same colour as your gown, an LBD keeps it classy and it doesn’t have to be a one-wear dress. Try to steer clear of plain black dresses to avoid looking like a shadow. Lace and crochet give the LBD a new season update, and frill hems are always a good choice to make your dress stand out.

Total white out

#trending: festival–Missguided

Even though the likes of CoachellaThe Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival (commonly referred to as Coachella or the Coachella Festival) is an annual music and arts festival held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, located in the Inland Empire’s Coachella Valley in the Colorado Desert. have been and gone this year *wishes – maybe next year*, there are still plenty of festivals left to get excited about. Less doesn’t always mean more when it comes to packing, right? And having something for every weather eventuality is a must! So take a look at all of the festival outfitClothing can be made of textiles, animal skin, or other thin sheets of materials put together. The wearing of clothing is mostly restricted to human beings and is a feature of nearly all human societies. The amount and type of clothing worn depend on body type, social, and geographic considerations. Some clothing can be gender-specific. inspo we’ve been loving so far! And remember babe, it’s never too early to start planning!

DENIM:
Fit for any occasion, and known for its versatility, denim will always hold a special place in the heart of most (let’s be honest, all) wardrobes. From oversized jackets to distressed shorts, it’s hard to see how such a staple could ever fail us.

CO ORDS:
A whole outfit sorted and you barely have to think about it. Just what every babe needs whilst nursing a hangover. Think paisley prints, fun colours and anything with tassels or sequinsA sequin /?sikw?n/ is a disk-shaped bead used for decorative purposes. In earlier centuries, they were made from shiny metals. Today, sequins are most often made from plastic. They are available in a wide variety of colors and geometrical shapes. Sequins are commonly used on clothing, jewelry, bags, shoes and many other accessories.. For a festival, a crop top and shorts co-ord is always a winner.

PRINTS:
Floral, animal, stripe, camo or polka dot. How could we ever choose? There is quite literally something for everyone. Camo trousers are perfect for any weather possibility, an animal print faux fur jacket will keep you warm in the cooler nights, and knitted stripe co-ord is the one for the heat wave on the horizon.

LACE & CROCHET:
Every festival’s must-have fabrics. If you can forget about the worrying tan lines, crochet is the one for you. Avoid basic b*tch territory by taking crochet to the next level – Don’t be afraid of crochet trousers. And what else really needs to be said about lace, classic, chic and just beautiful.

SEQUINS:
Does anything else need to be said? If you’re not planning on packing anything sequin related then you’re doing this all wrong, babes. If the weather isn’t bangin’ then a sequin jacket will keep you warm, and if the weather is anything over 20 degrees we’ll be rockin’ the well-loved sequin crop top.

BOOTS, BOOTS, BABY:
Wellie boots, western boots, ankle boots, and the list goes on. They look great with anything, keep your feet protected, and, most importantly, they’re just soooo comfy! Or, if you’re more a sporty girl, throw on some trainers for an easy festival look.
